Cumbria Association of Local Councils (CALC)   

Run by local councils for the benefit of local councils. It aims to assist councils in their day-to-day work and to represent their interests.

The CALC publication "A Guide to Planning for Town and Parish Councils and Parish Meetings" is on the website,  but, as we are membership organisation (parish councils pay an annual fee) it is in the part of the website for members only (you have a name and password).  A copy has gone out to every parish clerk in Cumbria, and other people can purchase them for £4 from the CALC office in Penrith.

 

Cumbria County Council

The Council is an elected authority which provides a range of services for local people, visitors and the business community. We are committed to supporting local communities in Cumbria.

Cumbria Council for Voluntary Services (CVS)

Cumbria CVS was formed in 2007 following the merger of 5 CVS in Cumbria. Cumbria CVS is a not for profit organisation that provides support to Third Sector groups in Cumbria. There are 5 local bases in Cumbria:

Cumbria Wildlife Trust (CWT)

Cumbria Wildlife Trust is the only voluntary organisation devoted solely to the conservation of the wildlife and wildplaces of Cumbria. The Trust stands up for wildlife, creates wildlife havens, and seeks to raise environmental awareness.

Friends of the Lake District (FLD)

Formed in 1934, Friends of the Lake District work to protect and enhance the special qualities of the distinctive and inspirational landscapes of Cumbria and the Lake District.

Lake District National Park Authority (LDNPA)

The Lake District National Park wants a National Park for furure generations. A prosperous economy,world class visitor experience and vibrant communities all sustaining the spectacular landscape.

National Trust (NT)

We protect and open to the public over 300 historic houses and gardens and 49 industrial monuments and mills.

But it doesn’t stop there. We also look after forests, woods, fens, beaches, farmland, downs, moorland, islands, archaeological remains, castles, nature reserves, villages - for ever, for everyone.
